Basic Responsibilities:


 


1.     Coordinate communications and notification of product changes between customer and our plant. Direct and monitor product changes at suppler locations


2.     Assist in problem solving and recommending and execution of product changes where needed in order to correct non-conforming conditions or to provide continuous improvement with the product


3.     Evaluate cost effectiveness of proposed engineering changes and recommend course of action to Management of our company. Providing cost savings (VA/VE) in the design of the product, generally 5% target yearly


4.     Manage activities within budgets


5.     Promote and support safety efforts of our company


6.     Has the authority to prevent non-conforming product from reaching the customer


7.     


Comply with all environmental, employment and non-discrimination policies of our company


 

Specific Functions—Technical Responsibilities


 


        Applies best practices in creating/reviewing layout drawings, detail drawings and assembly drawings. Uses customer’s environment drawings to ensure no packaging or interference problems exist in the drawings/data.


        Applies best practices in design and engineering. This can include but is not limited to PDfSS, drawing standards, FEA, GD&T, root cause analysis, DVP, DFMEA, hand calculations and use of carry-over and CPP technology.


        Executes design changes to provide the highest quality in the build and assembly of prototype parts with agreed to process. Ensures design data is released on-time to support highest quality assemblies for testing and the customer.


        Supports root cause analysis in the resolution of test failures. Raise to manager & safety lead on any potential safety concern. Conduct and get approval for safety sign-off


        Provides test specifications, reviews set up, and following up for product testing, domestic & oversea, in assigned area of design responsibility.


        Supports generation of DFMEAs prior to release of prototype tooling, including support generation of manufacturing process flow, PFMEA & control plan 


        Develops technical solutions that support business objectives (cost, performance, timing, weight, and investment) for both new RFQ & current product


        Technically supports suppliers in product development and drawing creation.


        Performs design studies to ensure highest quality product assembly and performance.


        Executes best practices and early detection for BSR.


        Uses the right tool/technology for providing technical solution to program/product issues.


        Is aware of advancing technology and implements as appropriate.


        Initiates and executes VA/VE to meet customer/internal target


        Executes other assignments as directed


 

Specific Functions—Administrative Responsibilities


 


        Writes ECRs, IRs or DAs to properly document customer or Adient initiated changes or issues (paperwork and/or EPIC system) follow Product Change Management System


        Provides input to support personnel (in program management, material & logistic, quality, and manufacturing department) to ensure accurate input of design change records/ drawings and support program launch.


        Provides marked up drawings or CAD models through designers (front/back-office) to facilitate accurate costing and quoting exercises.


        Maintains accurate bill of materials through product data management system and support personnel.
